FELT & Metal Jewelry FAQ

FELT Statement and Brief Bio:

My jewelry is the result of my desire to incorporate color, pattern and texture into my work without setting stones. The color was to be from an alternative source. Through trial and error and consideration of many materials I concluded that wool felt was perfect. The material is durable, pliable, and possesses a rich, saturated color and a hint of texture. I manipulate the felt into shapes and set them like stones into my oxidized sterling and 18k Bi-metal jewelry. This is a technique that I developed on my own to suit my needs.

I have always had a Metal line of jewelry. It too has evolved over time. In June 2020 I finally added my Metal line online for purchase and have added a number of piecessince. It is comprised of oxidized sterling silver, 18k Bi-metal and now some 14k vermeil pieces too. The Metal line can easily be worn with the FELT line as there are many common design elements and components.

I am inspired by graphic, product and furniture design as well as architecture. Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Vasily Kandinksy are among my many influences. I love Modern Art and Design.

I am a native Chicagoan. I went to college at Parsons School of Design In New York City. I currently reside in Chicago with my husband John and our two cats, Rosie and Zero. When I am not on the road I love to travel abroad with my husband, visiting art museums, absorbing cultures and eating great food!

FELT & Metal Jewelry Care:

All items are shipped with care/bio cards for reference.

*Store items in ziploc bags in a dry, dark area. This will help prevent dirt, dust, lint from accumulating on the felt. It will also help prevent scratches, tarnishing and other damage. When traveling it advisable to store items in a box or hard sided container.

*To clean felt, gently dab the surface of the felt with a piece of masking tape. It will help de-lint, remove other dust and dirt, while revitalizing the surface.

*To clean oxidized sterling silver, use a microfiber cloth to remove oils and dirt. If need be use sopay water, rinse and blot dry with a soft coth or paper towel. Do NOT use a polishing cloth on oxidized sterling. do NOT use Tarn-X, a jewelry dip/liquid cleaner or a paste cleaner. How oxoidzed sterling ages is dependant on your body chemistry as well as the piece of jewelry and how often you wear it.

*A little water will not harm the felt. If it becomes saturated, blot dry with a soft cloth and continue to air dry. If something gets on the felt; rinse, blot dry and continue to air dry. It is not advisable to routinely swim or shower wearing your FELT jewelry.

*Please store cable wire neck pieces flat, in a box or in a hard covered book or folio. It may hang as long as there isn't significant weight pulling on it. Do NOT throw these neck pieces loose in a hand bag or suitcase; they will kink. Once the wires kink, they stay kinked.

Thank you! Enjoy!
